Playlist for 12/30/09: Baby, You're the Best
Zero Hour this week featured as many of my favorite artists, albums and songs from 2009 that I could squeeze into three hours. Overall, I think it was a pretty good year for music, or at least there was plenty to keep me busy and entertained. Having a show on WMSE certainly exposed me to a ton of tunes, and simply planning and doing a three-hour show each week made me consider a lot of music I might not have otherwise. My top 10 albums this year (in no order) came from the A-Bones (Not Now/Norton), Tommy Keene (In the Late Bright/Second Motion), Dinosaur Jr. (Farm, Jagjaguwar), The Tripwires (House to House/Spark and Shine), Jack Oblivian (Disco Outlaw/Goner, Saturday Night Part 2 EP/Big Legal Mess), Fairlane (Light So Bright/ Chrome Heart), Chuck Prophet, (¡ Let Freedom Ring!/Yep Roc), Marshall Crenshaw (Jaggedland/429), Wheels on Fire (Get Famous/Big Legal Mess) and The Shazam (Meteor/Not Lame). Pick up your prize at the window. For other ideas to help you go broke, check out this and this and this.

What, no love for Patterson Hood on your top 10 list? Shameful. :-)
I would have put him somewhere in the 10-20 range, for sure.
My vote, 'Wheels on Fire'.
I won't argue with that one at all, Will.
