Started with a belated birthday wish to myself (totally forgot!) and finished with a tribute to the artists playing Merge’s XX shows this week. I will do a I Love My Label for Merge in August or September, but next week I plan to do July’s for Bloodshot, which turns 15 this year and is having BBQ’s across the country, including in Madison on Aug. 22 for free. Zero Hour playlist for 7-8-09: Beer me

My pre-vacation show was a mostly loud guitar affair with the likes of Finger, Dinosaur Jr., Swervedriver and Daddy bringing the old and new noise. I paid tribute to all the beers that gave their lives at Summerfest last week and had new music from Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5 and Those Darlins. It’s now off to Virginia, the Outer Banks and way too many IPA’s. And yes, I should have played "Beer Money" by the Young Fresh Fellows. Next week, dang it.
